"Unpleasantly surprised"

"We stayed in Windsong which has lost all of its old world charm and is now just plain old and unmaintained. Doorknobs and locks don't work, handles missing from furniture. Curtains and linen are in very poor shape and of poor quality. The fabric on the valance in the livingroom was fastened with just some thumbtacks many years ago and doesn't seem to want to stay put anymore so it just hangs off. The couches and armchair are in terrible condition. Outside toilet had a pile of leaves on the lid because of a gap between the roof and wall. Loose and leaky taps, the list goes on. The farm is not fenced and there are no security measures in place. The only two positives is the jungle gym and the big stoep. I cannot speak of the other cottages but rather steer clear of winsdsong. The owners are not involved at all and don't seem to even care although so much emphasis is put on it being a family run establishment."

"The cottages were clean and cosy, the staff very friendly and we enjoyed walking the well-laid-out trails. We managed to do all trails within a day. For the price we paid (R840 per night for two people), we would have expected to have had a little more attention to detail in some aspects, e.g. loose taps, pots with broken handles, etc."

"My friend and I enjoyed our stay at Rose cottage very much. It has a rustic charm about it. Mpho and Solly made sure that we had everything we needed. The Star gazing was excellent."
"Another Fantastic Break at Rose Cottage"

"Absolutely fantastic holiday again.  Mpo the manageress is a gem and the staff are so friendly. Nothing is too much trouble.  Scamp, the farm dog who acted as our guide on the trails, made sure we didn't get lost and our dachshund Archie made a new best friend; Ziggi a young JR.  They were inseparable.  A really good time was had by all.  Waterberg Cottages also now have game which we watched from our patio.CHRIS AND SONIA BACON "
