"Disappointed"

"This is touted as a 5-star hotel but as a seasoned traveller, who has stayed in 5-star hotels around the world, it falls well short of what I would consider 5-star standard. I would rate it 3-stars - 4 at a push. Food and restaurant areas are nice and I celebrated my 60th birthday there, which the staff made to feel very special. Food was good but no better than an average restaurant. For a 5-star hotel, I did expect a little better. However, I had two big problems - the room was tiny! Again, for a hotel rating of 5-stars, one expects a decent room. It was the smallest hotel room that I've stayed in for a long time and as it was meant to be a disabled room (my wife is wheelchair bound), it was totally inadequate. We could barely move the wheelchair around. Secondly, check-out is 11h00 - like most hotels. We finished breakfast at about 10h55 and went to our room to collect our bags to checkout. The room key didn't work. On enquiry at reception, I was rather rudely told that check out is 11h00 and as we hadn't done so, the key cards were cancelled! I waited 30 minutes while the receptionist got "permission" to issue a new card for us to collect our bags! Surely, if one hasn't checked out, a polite phone call from the reception would have been adequate? We felt like naughty schoolchildren not guests of a top hotel. Sadly, when in Knysna again, we will be giving Turbine a miss."
