The Gumtree Guest House is situated on the banks of the Grobbelaars River, at the historic suspension bridge in Oudtshoorn. We offer comfortable accommodation in beautiful rooms surrounded by a garden filled with indigenous plants, and we are located within walking distance of the town, restaurants, banks and curio shops.
Our breakfasts are served inside or outside, depending on the weather, and fresh seasonal ingredients are used. The breakfasts served are fresh home-baked bread, fruit salad, cereals, yoghurt, cheese, meat and a hot breakfast that is cooked according to your order. The products used are mainly produced locally.
The Swartberg Mountains are in full view from the veranda and the setting sun can be watched from the wooden deck. The Gumtree Guest House offers the ideal stopover for all travellers, where nature and tranquility meet.

"En route home we booked to stay with Linda and Phil at Gumtree Guest House. The place was really lovely, very comfortable, Linda and Phil superb hosts and even recommended a fabulous place for dinner. The pool at Gumtree was an amazing relief when it was 40 degrees in Oudtshoorn. We will certainly use Gumtree again when next in the area and recommend it to anyone else."

"Ideal stop over for our trip from Jo'burg to Swellendam. Everything one needs are provided for and Phil is a fantastic host. Walking distance to all restaurants and shops. Spent time on the cable bridge, something that one easily misses if you stay elsewhere. WiFi great for business purposes. Breakfast was just great with all the local food. Keep the standards up, wonderful."

"Having driven from Knysna and arrived considerably earlier than the normal check-in time, Phil very kindly welcomed us and allowed us to choose our room and 'move in' before we had to head off to the Cango Caves. The Gumtree Guest House is set in beautiful grounds with good facilities. Our room was spacious with all the amenities we could wish for and was the closest to communal bar area - a huge plus! Our hosts, Phil and Linda, were excellent, from their recommendations of restaurants to activities in the surrounding areas - especially when our initial plans didn't work out. Furthermore, on our journey from Oudtshoorn to Stellenbosch, Phil even sent a text to warn us of a road closure and an alternative route.
We had a brilliant time in Oudtshoorn and would definitely recommend The Gumtree Guest House - we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again on our next visit to Oudtshoorn."

"The room was quite big with a veranda with comfy seats and lovely view. Phil and Linda were very friendly, inviting us for a compimentary drink. Lots of helpful ideas about what to do in the area. Breakfast was exceptional with huge choice of mostly locally sourced items. Phil recommended the Colony Restaurant in the Queens Hotel, within walking distance, where we had superb ostrich steak and sprinkbok loin. Would certainly return to the Gumtree."

"We originally only booked one night, but stayed two and had a lovely time at The Gumtree Guest House. Phil and Linda were great hosts and very enthusiastic about the area and all it has to offer. Rooms are spacious and spotless and it's a very convenient location. Highly recommended."
