Starry Nights Karoo Cottages has just been renovated original Oregon floors and doors. There are four cottages available with one bedroom; two bedrooms or three bedrooms.

Philippolis is on the old national road, R717, between Colesberg and Trompsburg. It is an ideal stop over, 630 km from Johannesburg, 800 km from Cape Town, and 470 km from Port Elizabeth. The deviation off the N1 highway from Colesberg to Trompsburg is in fact 7 km shorter than the actual N1 and without trucks.

Philippolis is also a lovely village for those who want to escape from the city for a few days. Enjoy silence, closeness to nature, stargazing, bird watching, no traffic, old fashioned tranquillity and friendliness.

"My wife and I spent the night at Starr Nights. It has been well renovated and equipped for self-catering and we enjoyed our stay in this historic building. It makes an ideal stop off point for anyone traveling from Gauteng to the East or West Cape. Would highly recommend it."

"Very spacious, comfortable and safe accommodation! What a lovely vibrant town Philippolis is. Be aware that the roads have many potholes at this stage (May 2012) but it is worth a visit."

"Dit is 'n pragtige outydse huis met baie spasie. Dit het regte plankvloere en 'n melkkan in die kombuis. This is really a beautiful old house with loads of space. It has genuine wooden floors and a milk can in the kitchen."
