"Very nice"
18 Aug 2019
By Zack Piontek
"I enjoyed my stay very much. Great food, beautiful room and nice people. The only thing that was to my dislike was the fact that it said wi-fi in the rooms, but unfortunately my room had no signal. I did inform the owner and she said she will get someone out to sort out that problem. That is the only reason I dont give a 5 star rating"
"Nothing!"

"I hadn't been in Harrismith in 5 years and was shocked by the town's deteriorization! You should reconsider all your listings there. I did not feel safe and will only "pass through" in the future. It's obvious that Shady Pines once enjoyed glory days in the past, but no longer...like many others in the town. Terribly sad, but grim reality!"
"Cool & comfortable surrounds in an old converted home"

"We loved everything about this establishment: The old architecture, historic fittings & old-style accommodation. We found the hosts accommodating & helpful & the breakfast spread was sublime. We would recommend this as a stay-over for the journey from Gauteng to KZN."
"Beautiful room with an amazing view"

"Really beautiful little spot in Harrismith with very friendly and helpful staff. The only downside was the cat that meowed all night right outside our room - very little sleep because of this."

"Not much"

"We did not enjoy our overall experience at Shady Pines. We have 2 children and booked here because it claims to have a swimming pool which we planned to use to occupy the kids, it does not have a swimming pool. The family room has a bunk bed but nothing to prevent young kids from rolling off from a very high drop. Our room was not ready on check in and the staff seemed more interested in playing cards than helping us. The price was also pretty high for what you got in comparison to other options."

"This was charming place with nice rooms. Just one niggle and I did mention it to the receptionist on duty - please warn any light sleepers not to be booked into Room 7. The extractor fan for the kitchen was switched on at 0600 for a party of early leavers and the outlet is right next to the window of Room 7. The noise at that hour of a Sunday morning cutting short one's sleep was very loud, cutting short our sleep. "
