Overview
Quaggasfontein Private Game Reserve is a secluded jewel near the town of Colesberg. Here, in the vast and extensive Karoo, we have as our sole focus, to maintain the simplistic principles of life so tangibly found in our unique environment.

A calming existence can be experienced in the operational variety of businesses on Quaggasfontein. Unique riparian and semi-mountainous habitats, lend themselves to a balanced composition of species to be found on this 28 000ha reserve. Herds of both small and large herbivores can be encountered. From the timid Springbok that once owned the Karoo, to the burly Cape Buffalo. It will be easy to understand where our slogan was conceived Where Quality Roams!

This lodge has been restored with an emphasis on natural materials as far as possible. The lapa/barbecue area is some 10m from an oft-frequented water hole that is popular with all species. A stone wall surrounding the lodge enables close-up game viewing.

The Lodge comprises two sets of buildings. The first contains a massive bar/lounge/dining area, a double kitchen, and three staff suites. Adjacent to this complex is six en-suite (showers only) double bedrooms, one having a small private garden. All the rooms offer coffee-making facilities and are equipped with a fan, fridge, and minibar.

"Great hospitality, no internet or cell signal in room, TV not working, bathroom door handle lying on a table top, low key room with view onto a car park, no Game drives as it is a Game farm ? Would not recommend not worth the money at all."

"We spent one night here on our way down to do the Otter trail. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful game lining the fence on our way in and the warm karoo welcome and food. The owners made such a special effort to settle us in and we had a great time. Will definitely be back!"
"Disappointing"

"Before reading the review below, please keep in mind that we were travelling with a 8 month old baby. We stayed here for one night in January 2017, and what a complete disappointment. On our arrival at Quaggasfontein Private Game Reserve, we were unsure as to where the reception was as there is no clear indication (at least to my eye) of where to go once you arrive. This creates unnecessary confusion and frustration, especially after travelling for many hours prior to our arrival.Once we checked in, we were informed that our rooms were not located on the main premises, but rather a few kilometers away. We were also informed that if we wished to make use of the Private Game Reserve swimming pool (as it was n searing 38 degrees Celsius that day), that we had to travel back to the main premises as this is where the pool is located. Non of the above was mentioned to us when we made our booking or prior to our arrival, which is unacceptable. Further to the above, having to travel even further after an already long day of traveling is of great inconvenience, as well as the fact that we had to travel back to the main premises should we have wanted to use the swimming pool (which we would have used had in not include more travelling, yet again). The room itself, although clean, is extremely hot and has no aircon, but rather a roof mounted fan (which is useless and makes no difference whatsoever). It was actually hotter inside our room than outside. We had lunch at the restaurant which has a very limited set menu, as it basically included a toasted ham, cheese and tomato as the only choice for lunch. To add to the above lack of choice, the toasted sandwich was very dull and bland, all for a quite steep R25. We decided to rather drive back to Colesberg the evening to go have dinner. Overall, our stay at Quaggasfontein Private Game Reserve was a rather huge disappointment, especially considering the price of R1 000 per night, which doesn't even include breakfast. We shall rather book elsewhere when traveling to Colesberg in the future."

"What a stunning place. With Buffalo's, Wildebeest, Springbok and Eland in abundance. Watching them within an arms length from the boma, whilst enjoying a cold one. Not to mention the food, a wholesome and delicious meal. The service is impeccable, and the accommodation so relaxing.Definitely the place to stop over and unwind."

"A lovely place to stay - clean, well equipped, welcoming. The wildlife was fascinating and came so close to feed and drink. It is quite far off the road - many km on a gravel road - be warned. But it was worth the trip!"
