"Fairly basic accommodation"
"Place of tranquility offers spacious but basic accommodation outside Paarl. The cottage itself is large, but fittings and fixtures are clearly done with budget in mind - terrible mattresses on all the beds, TV does not really work unless you are willing to reset it every few minutes. The swimming pool was green. The kitchen is not well stocked - only two wine glasses for a cottage that sleeps 6, and one of those is a champagne glass, for example. We used it only as a base to explore the surrounding winelands and it worked well for that purpose, but we will not be back.Establishment Response:Thisemail is in response to the negative review placed on our establishment, Place of Tranquillity, a self-cateringguest cottage located in a farming community off the R44 outside Paarl.Thereview in question, given by Linda Kemp commented on the basicity of thecottage, complaining about the fittings and fixtures that she viewed as beinginstalled with budget in mind, the terrible mattresses, a TV [that] doesnot really work and the fact that the pool was green. The guest also statedthat the kitchen had not been well stocked, finding only two wine glassesfor a cottage that sleeps six.Asfor the pool, before the guests had arrived, it had been treated and had beenblue upon their arrival. Due to the fact that they had arrived on Saturday, 5thApril, however, meant that the Easter weekend had already commenced and we hadbeen unable to acquire the staff, or the chemicals, required for the regularmaintenance of the swimming pool, thus leaving the pool untreated until theyhad left on Wednesday, 8th April. With regards to the TV, we hadbeen experiencing some problems with the decoder of late, it needing to berebooted in order for it to work. I had informed the guests of the problem, andthey had stated that they wouldnt be watching TV, but would be wine-tastingthroughout Paarl and just needed a place to rest as a base. I have been intouch with Multichoice to rectify the problem, however, I had difficultygetting hold of them over Easter. Ourestablishment is situated on a working farm which provides host to the site ofthe cottage. Although the cottage itself is comfortable, it is not to beregarded as a 5-star establishment. However, the fact that the kitchen is under-stockedis a misconception on the behalf of the guest. The kitchen is equipped withmore than enough cutlery and crockery, as well as a stove, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, ice-maker and has complimentary tea and coffee and necessarycleaning detergents. The cottage is further equipped with soap, 2-ply toiletpaper and handwash in both bathrooms, towels and extra bedding. Thus, inresponse to the guests issues with the terrible beds, low-budget fixturesand fittings and lack of a TV, I apologize that the cottage was not up to theguests standards, however, I can only provide so much for the price of stay."
