A combination of wow factor, rustic country elegance and romantic charm second-to-none, has made The Forge at Oakhurst a top retreat for anyone looking for the ultimate in rural piece and quiet. Sleeping a total of six, The Forge has two spacious bedrooms with king-size beds, as well as a mezzanine loft room with two more kids beds. The main bedroom is ensuite while there is an additional shared bathroom off the living area. This 150 year old stone cottage was one of the first building to be built at Oakhurst, still retaining its thick stone walls and exposed timber beams. The living area wraps around the cottage and is made up of a dining room, equipped kitchen with gas stove and a cosy lounge with fireplace.
The living area opens out via glass doors onto a lovely covered deck with soothing views onto open fields and forests. Outdoors there is a secluded, open-air hot shower, dining table and braai area, hammocks as well as a private plunge pool and permanent wood-fired hot tub. Easy access to the forest trail is via the gate alongside the cottage.
Percale linen, bath towels and soaps, as well as free WiFi are included with your stay.

"We stayed at Oakhurst for three nights in December 2014. Clare and Jake were wonderful hosts - we were so impressed that a bowl of freshly laid eggs and a bottle of farm milk was delivered to our door shortly after we arrived. The cottage is quaint and comfortable. However, for us, the best was having coffee and rusks on the deck, with the early morning sun and the abundance of birds in the forest in front of us - very special. The setting is lovely; the cottages face the forest and there are walks through the forest to the dam and the waterfall. The farm is an enormous diary farm which one has to drive through to get to the cottages. I would recommend Oakhurst to others, especially those with young children!"

"What a lovely little cottage. The indoor/outdoor living is great in summer, but I wondered if it might be a little cold in winter. Claire was very welcoming and we would definitely consider returning for a slightly longer stay. There were one or two small details overlooked - for example there was no soap in the bathroom, but nothing that would prevent me recommending this idyllic spot."

"The cottage is beautiful and thoughtfully decorated to make you feel at home. Lots of small details to ensure a comfortable stay such as candles, unlimited wood, fire lighters, eggs, milk, rusks & biscotti. Plus everything you might need!
Claire and her family are wonderful hosts, the cottage was cleaned daily and the room's lights & heater were on when we arrived in the evenings.
Very cosy and the perfect romantic getaway - we didn't want to leave!"
