"Very nice place and beautiful rooms and surroundings. Waiting period for food took very long and they got our orders wrong and their prices for food is kind of ridiculous for what you get . front desk was very helpful and accommodating. Will go there again, but will go for food somewhere else."

"I had a bit of a terrible drive coming here (not at the fault of magalies manor note) and the staff really went the extra mile to make up for it even though they really didn't have to. I will be paying them another visit soon."

"The room was good although the blinds in the bathroom did not work, and the room smelled of feet. Upon checkout I was informed that I need to pay an extra amount when I was under the impression that my initial payment was in full. This is not a good thing as I feel that I have been swindled."
"The manner in which staff dealt with my concerns."

"Although recently renovated, the room was sparsely furnished. No desk in room for laptop or no mirror to do make-up or hair near plug point. Paint spills on tiles not cleaned up after renovation. No toilet roll holder. Toilet paper stacked unhygienically on toilet brush. Only positive was that staff went out of their way to make me more comfortable but management really need to apply attention to detail example open plug point in bedroom and bedlights that only work if change room light is on. Will definitely not recommend."

"We stayed at Magalies Manor for 2 nights in June 2016 to attend a wedding nearby at the Black Horse brewery. Having left our booking quite late, Magalies Manor was our only practical choice remaining. We were hesitant, since we read a number of negative reviews on the state of the rooms, some as recent as a month ago.On arrival, we were booked into room 3, a classic double. It was immediately apparent that the reviews were correct - the curtain rail was bent and sagging, the walls had plaster damage, the bath mixer wasn't working, the two chairs were old and stained, and the alarm magnetic door sensor came off when we opened the back door. We immediately went back to reception (quite a walk) to see if another room was available, since now we could not arm the (very loud) alarm system. We were then given the keys to room 4 which seemed a lot better. However, the airconditioner's heating function ceased to work sometime at night and it got very cold. The door to the fridge cupboard was broken and off its hinges. The phone didn't work. The very limited DSTV channels were all snowy and mostly unwatchable. My parents booked into room 28 which was around R200 per night more expensive. It certainly looked a lot newer, but also had snowy TV channels and a broken phone.I must mention that some of the other issues mentioned by previous reviewers appeared to be fixed - there was a hairdryer in every room and the garden seemed to be well manicured.Other positives include the service which was great, especially the bar service. The entrance portal is lovely as is the garden, the pool area and breakfast. However, since the place was recently bought over (late 2015) and is still in the process of being improved, I would not suggest staying there until the issues mentioned have been fixed. The price (R1600 per room per night for the classic double) is rather excessive for what you get."

"Very poor quality rooms lack of housekeeping, globes in lamps not working, no hair dryers in roomsdoors that were falling off hinges. no telephone directory in rooms, had to guess what no. to dial for housekeeping to bring towels. On arrival reception was full of people, it appeared like a tea party with friend of the staff. Very bad impression, breakfast was mediocre, runny eggs, and stale pastries. would I spend R750.00 there again. not likely."
