Overview
Lake Eland Game Reserve is the ideal venue for a family holiday, romantic getaway or simply a day's outing near Port Shepstone. Lake Eland Game Reserve is truly a place of peace and tranquility as it provides an opportunity to view a diverse population of animals and over 200 bird species.

Guests have a choice of accommodation ranging from camping to self-catering cabins or the unique Pipe Dream. Each Campsite is private and some of the sites are equipped with electrical points. All the sites share the use of communal bathrooms with showers. Some of the Log Cabins can accommodate up to six guests, while others can accommodate two guests. The cabins offer double, king-size or single beds and have private bathrooms with showers only. Each cabin also has a kitchen that is equipped for self-catering, including braai facilities. Guests looking for something unique will enjoy the Pipe Dream, which is an old concrete pipe that offers a double bed and shares the use of the ablution facilities with the Campsite. This unit also has a patio and a private braai area.

Those that are not in the mood for cooking can dine at the on-site restaurant. It closes at 16:00 and has an indoor dining area, as well as an outdoor deck that overlooks the game reserve and a small dam. A fully licensed outdoor bar is also available. Various picnic areas are situated near a shady stream and they are equipped with braai facilities and rustic benches.

Great for the whole family, Lake Eland Game Reserve will ensure everyone has a fun-filled day with activities and facilities such as a childrens playground, game drives, horse rides, walking and cycling trails, paintball, a challenging 4x4 track and a thrilling walk across the 80 m suspension bridge. We have the longest Zip Line in Africa. It is 4.5 km long and has 14 slides soaring across the Oribi Gorge over 300m high.

Guests can make use of the chapel on the hill for weddings. It overlooks the game reserve and provides a spectacular view with a stunning backdrop for photos. The chapel seats 220 guests comfortably. The Oribi Hall is ideal for a reception or functions and can seat 320 guests. The Kudu Conference Centre can seat a maximum of 40 guests, depending on whether or not guests will sit on the outside deck.

"Star gazing, Zip lining, Scenic views and beautiful accommodation at Lake Eland"

"We loved the privacy and natural environment. The roads were so well maintained on the reserve which made exploring so easy. Would have preferred an indoor shower, especially during winter but the fireplace really warmed up the luxury chalet. So many activities kept us entertained during our stay and if you love fishing.. Scenic walks, Zip lining, mountain biking, star gazing, game drives and appreciating the outdoors.. This place is highly recommended!"

"Not happy with campsite 1......putting up a tent right next to a road! the reason we came there was for peace and quiet! We requested upon checking in, for a site next to the Lake Eland. We were told that they were available only for bigger groups. ..we drove there and all those sites were empty. Also we were not told there was no hot water at the 1st ablutions block...my wife had a cold shower. After enquiring with the cleaning staff twice, a staff member informed us that there was hot water at the 2nd ablutions block."

"Loved experiencing the oribi gorge and this part of natal , the chalets were lovely , airconditioners could make a difference to humidity issue and if noice and mosquitos was an issue. The staff were pleasant , but they certainly were not excited to have us and did not make us feel special in any way . The table in kitchen was very sticky - could be varnish !"

"Great friendly staff and a stunningly beautiful tranquil place. Cabins are warm and comfortable. Clean and neat. Enjoyed the game drives and horse riding and the 14 zip slides. Best experience. Things i would suggest are some watersport activities. Maybe like a paddle boat at each cabin for a morning paddle. Also would like if you guys offer quad biking and hire for the game drives. That would be awesome."
