"there was no-one to meet us when we arrived. We drove further to establish we were at the right place, then came back and took a chance trying the labourer cottages in the distance."
"The no connection to cell phone towers"

"We loved the character of the house, with its comforts geared towards the extreme temperatures. Please just check to ensure all the electric blankets are working though! Our pupils were very comfortable and loved the terrain to explore in!Though...the road leading up to Jakkasldans!! Eish! A 4x4 is definitely needed!"

"Electric blankets throughout were great, and the fire and inside braai were awesome. A good spot to spend a few days stargazing! The DStv wasn't working, and the lack of cellphone signal was a bit of a pain, but it forced us to leave technology behind which is a good thing sometimes!"

"Lovely"

"We loved this place, everything was perfect. House was clean. Plenty of hot water, firewood and blankets - we didn't lack anything. The farm manager, Kallie, was available all the time to sort out any small problems (brief power trip and blocked toilet), and to bring firewood. It is far out of town though, but if you're prepared for that, it's fine. We'll come back."
"A long road"

"The house is not the charming farmhouse we were hoping for. Surroundings are pretty but the house is not. A long bad dirt road from Sutherland extended each day by an hour. More hot water is necessary for eight people - could not have many baths in the evening, and in the morning the pipes were frozen. Good accommodation for eight to 10 people, and wonderful warm, comfortable beds with electric blankets were appreciated."
"Karoo at its best"

"Gemeet aan gastehuis standaarde, voldoen Jakkalsdans aan alle verwagtinge: beddegoed, matras, meubels, badkamer, noem maar op. Alles uitstekende kwaliteit, skoon en goed versorg. En dan die bonus: Karoo magic op sy beste. Stilte, wye oop ruimtes, in die verte 'n skaap wat blêr, bloekombome op die werf, 'n silwerskoon plaasdam, windpomp, sterrenagte. Onverbeterlik. Jakkalsdans meets all expectations: bedding, mattresses, furniture, bathroom, you name it. Everything of excellent quality, clean and well looked after. Then the bonus: that unique Karoo magic at its best. Stillness, wide open spaces, a sheep bleating in the distance, eucalyptus trees in the yard, a clean farm dam, a windmill, and beautiful starry nights. Unbeatable."
