"Unacceptable and shocking"
04 Jan 2012
By Jason, South Africa
"We made a booking for 2 for the weekend of 16 Dec for a selfcatering unit at the lodge. To our great surprise we were initially taken to a separate house and not to the lodge, and were told this is where we would stay. The photos of the lodge on the website seemed nice, but where we were taken was certainly not nice at all and definitely not what was in the photos. The state of the place was shocking, it had not been prepared for us and it was dirty. The gas geyser did not work and the "jacuzzi" which was supposed to be there was empty and completely filthy. We immediately told the manager that we were not staying there as it was not what we had booked for, being dirty and uncomfortable. She made absolutely no effort to apologise and kept giving excuses as to why the place was not prepared for us, saying they were so busy in December, and yet the place looked like no one had been there for months. We immediately left and were luckily able to find nice accommodation at another establishement. It certainly was not a pleasant or enjoyable experience, do not book there!"
"Stunning location"

"A most welcoming host and hostess. The Lodge was well appointed, with plenty of relaxing, social space, although the bedroom was quite small. Stunning location near to the Crocodile River, so marvellous to be able to walk freely amongst the local wildlife. Highly recommended."
