Overview
Esiweni Lodge is situated in the malaria-free, Big five Nambiti Game Reserve. Our unique cliff top position offers you a dramatic view over the Sundays River whilst you are relaxing on your private deck or having an outdoor shower. After a memorable game drive, enjoy the tranquil atmosphere at the lodge or laze around our rim-flow pool. At Esiweni Lodge we offer delicious meals with a range of excellent South African wines. We also offer an outdoor boma experience or a private dinner in our intimate wine cellar. Although you arrive as guests, our warm hospitality will ensure that you will be part of the family in no time at all.

Esiweni Lodge offers five, luxurious, individual suites. Each has an indoor shower, magnificent views from the bath and a private, outdoor shower. Two of the suites are interconnected for use as a family unit. Each suite has under floor heating for cold winter nights and overhead fans for warm, summer evenings. Our honeymoon suite has a private, outdoor bath with stunning views across the valley. Fully retracting patio doors open onto private decks where you can enjoy the majestic views of the Sundays River, waterfall and valley below. The decor of the main lodge is elegant depicting a colonial safari theme. Large, stone hearths warm the lounge and dining areas on cold, winter nights. During good weather, outdoor dining overlooking the valley is served on the vast, wooden deck. An intercom system is in place to connect each suite to the lodge staff in case of emergencies. Safes are also provided.

The following facilities are offered at Esiweni Lodge to enhance your stay: A wine cellar with a wide selection of South Africas best wines. A well-stocked yellow-wood bar to enjoy drinks before dinner. A spectacular rim-flow pool on the main deck, which you can enjoy the remarkable view. An intercom system that permits outside calls as there is no mobile cell phone reception at the lodge, Internet connection for your laptop and an unobtrusive electric fence around the lodge for the safety of the guests.

"Took my girlfriend here for her first African Game experience and it was by far the best one I have ever been on!"
"How do you find words to describe this fantastic experience?”"

"We spent three nights to celebrate our anniversary in March. Absolute fantastic experience from start to finish. In terms of value for money probably the best experience we had with all our travels throughout the world. We even saw the big five in the short space of time. Views from the lodge and the rooms are unforgettable. We stayed in the honeymoon suite (room number 5) and the outside bath was another new, but super experience. Magda, Natie and Evert as well as the rest of the team is so friendly and helpful. They try their utmost to make your stay as relaxing as possible. The highlight of our visit is probably the breakfast at the river. It is almost unthinkable that you can have a full English breakfast and full service with drinks etc at a remote location outside in nature with perfectly clean ablution facilities and running water. Our two guides, Natie and Evert went out of their way to make sure that we see as much game and animals as possible. Their knowledge and passion of the wildlife is excellent. The program probably changes with the seasons, but ours was roughly as follows: 5.30 Game drive (about three hours) after some muffins and coffee. 9.00 Breakfast. 14.00 Lunch. 15.30 High tea and 16.30 Game drive (about three hours) 20.00 Dinner. Food is more than enough you can even skip lunch if you want a bit more leisure time. The chef prepares food that looks like if it coming from a five star hotel, the only difference is that the portions are big and more than enough. Soft drinks for the game drives are included but other drinks are for your own account, but very well priced. No fridge in the room, but not necessary with the reasonably priced drinks. Cars are parked a 20 minute drive from the lodge in a secure area with electric fencing. As there can be no more than 10 people at the lodge at one time, you have a very exclusive experience. I almost forgot, the warm face cloths that Sebelo hands out when you come back from the game drive makes you feel so special. We will definitely be back."
