The Elephant House is an exclusive 9 bedroomed lodge situated near the Addo Elephant National Park in the fertile sun-drenched Sundays River Valley.
The wide verandas (filled with comfortable sofas) forming a series of courtyards are a defining feature, while the dcor at Elephant House evokes colonial & African images and is furnished with the owners' private collection of antiques, Persian rugs and Africana art.
The 9 spacious bedrooms open onto courtyards & private verandas. The chef serves lovely light poolside lunches and after sundowners a memorable three course candlelit dinner is prepared with flair and personal attention.
Our luxury colonial rooms all have a lovely main bedroom with en-suite bathroom (bath & shower) and are set in lush established gardens and among beautiful verandas. Our stable cottages are situated across the road from the main house (only shower) and all 6 cottages are equipped with a minibar fridge and tea/coffee facilities.
Addo is situated in the beautiful Sundays River Valley, only 40 min from Port Elizabeth airport. The accessibility of this area coupled with its close proximity to the Garden Route and Cape Town makes the Addo Elephant Park and its surrounding areas an extremely desirable destination that is already very popular with international visitors.
The Addo Elephant National Park was proclaimed in 1931 and today this finely tuned ecosystem is home to over 400 elephants. This makes the Addo Park the most concentrated elephant reserve in Africa thus giving one a good chance of experiencing some of the best elephant viewing in the world. Apart from elephants, there are also lions, hyena, black rhino, buffalo and various antelope species.

"We had such a wonderful stay with the Elephant House. We where incredibly comfortable in the cottage. The owner and his staff made us feel like we where at 'home' away from home. Beautiful stunning rolling lawns and gardens. So much space and fresh air. Really we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back again!"

"This was our second visit to The Elephant House. Although it has been almost 10 years since our last the friendly and efficient stay was as good as before. The Lodge has been developed and expanded in that time but I would defy anybody to see the joins. We were brilliantly looked after including spotting a flat tyre and changing the wheel for us. Well done to the owners and staff."

"My parents came back raving about your establishment. They enjoyed the care for detail, and mentioned the number of lovely features like bird feeders you have there. They also like the way the clean laundry was presented in the basket. They went out on a day trip with a canoe and a hike, which they greatly enjoyed. All in all, they enjoyed their stay tremendously and said to us that they would happily recommend it to anyone."
