"Great space in the rooms. All very clean. Beds very comfortable. Dog friendly. Very steep drive from road to house. Suite 4 is down steps without a hand rail, or down the side of the property on a grass slope without rails and ill lit at night. Establishment response:Thank you for your review and positive feedback.You booked suite 4 online, without discussing room options with me first. Had you mentioned that you had mobility issues, I would have recommended that you rather book one of our ground floor or wheelchair friendly suites. Suite 4 is our family suite and because it is situated in the garden, it is suitable for families who like privacy and a private garden for their children to play in.With regard to our driveway being steep, by Umhlanga standards, it is not at all steep and we furthermore have no problems with the ingress and egress of motor vehicles.Kind regards,Janine"

"My long weekend spent at Chartwell guest House was amazing. On arrival my daughter and I received a warm welcome, we were immediately taken to our suite which was clean and spectacular. "Our room was not very private - surrounded on one side by the car park, and on the other the kitchen. Was woken at 6am by the staff who started preparing breakfast. Loud talking, clattering of pots and dishes prevented me from falling asleep again. A bit of a desperate attempt to squeeze another room onto a small property."

"Honestly Chartwell was an emergency situation. We had booked 3 nights in Durban and at the last minute we were told the 3rd night was no longer available. It was only then that we found Chartwell, Upon arival, the reception (Eunice) was wonderful, we were introduced to all the facilities at our disposal. Right there we regreted not having booked Chartwell for all three nights. uMhlanga is a clean and wonderful neighbourhood, we felt safe and welcome.We will definitely stay at the Chartwell Guest House again."
