Caledon Mountain Lodge offers accommodation in five thatched cottages nestled in the mountains and offering beautiful scenic views. The main lodge has a bar and restaurant with panoramic views and offers continental meals with local flavours. The main lodge area also has a childrens play room to keep kids safely occupied.
Please note that normal vehicles have been negotiating this road for the last two years, with no problems but slow driving is required.
Breakfast is optional at an extra rate of R60.00 per person.

"As check-in closes for Caledon Mountain Lodge at 17h30 we made arrangement with them to leave the key in the lock of our cottage as we'd only be leaving Joburg at that time. We arrived to a locked cottage and no key. I phoned the number and was told that I should have come to reception, which we then did. When I explained the arrangement the owner was argumentative and rude. I told him I was unhappy, and he told us to go stay elsewhere - this at 10 o clock at night, on a long weekend with outside temperatures in the minus. My mediator hubby (thankfully) stepped in, and we returned with key to the cottage, which didn't have electricity. This is OK - Eskom is unpredictable - except the cottage isn't set up for it. There are no extra blankets, no hot water bottles, no candle holders (we improvised with a brick). We ended up leaving early."

"The dirt road to the lodge is very bad and one has to travel with a 4x4. Not suitable for any other vehicle. The breakfast was good and people friendly."

"We had a great time. The staff were very accommodating and the food was great. However, there is a 4km stretch of road that is best suited for a 4 x 4 or SUV."

"Highly recommended for anyone wanting an unpretentious and relaxing weekend away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a rustic cottage set in the hills with amazing views and peaceful surrounds. The hosts, Mike and Sharon, were so friendly and accommodating. The food and the service at the lodge was 5 star! Very close to Clarens, Golden Gate and other attractions, its a great place to relax or to plan an adventure. A wonderful getaway - we will definitely be back!"

"Beautiful surroundings with chalet nestled between the mountains - stunning view. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Restaurant very cosy. Didn't see all the fossils but we'll be back for another look. Highly recommended."
