"What an extraordinary experience of getting away from it all. A clean and well maintained home with everything one would need. Gorgeous views and surroundings. Wonderful hikes and great fishing. Recharged and revived."

"We stayed for 3 nights at Boshoek Bass cottage. It was an amazing experience for us all including the boys (4,9,11) who could run around the farm, climb mountains, helping with the fires! The views on the farm is unbelievable, and walking to the dam a MUST. Although the house does not have electricity, it is sufficiently geared with oil lamps, gas stove, gas fridge and gas geysers for hot water. The anthracite stove was definitely the best. Once you get the hang of operating it, a kettle continuously boiling and heat in the kitchen remains a winner during the cooler days and evenings. With an additional fire place in the lounge, the house was never cold and it is the best to go to bed in the evenings listening to the owls and jackals at night. No noise pollution at all.This is indeed a rare find, and I will definitely recommend visiting the farm. Zanet was a great host and we communicated throughout our visit. Thank you for your kind hospitality!"

"What a wonderful weekend away! The beautiful natural scenery of the Eastern Free State is the best-kept secret. Mountains, valleys, rivers, cosmos, beautiful scenery wherever you look. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable, contains everything you may need and decorated in an extremely tasteful rustic style, to compliment the house itself and the natural surroundings. With a fireplace inside, an old stove in the kitchen, fireplace outside plus braai area outside, you have no excuse to be cold. Our hostess, Zanet, is extremely gracious, warm and helpful - thank you Zanet for even supplying us with the coffee we forgot at home. I was concerned about safety and security, but once we arrived at our destination, we realized that my concerns were ridiculous - anyone wanting to threaten us would have to go to extreme lengths to succeed and won't succeed.... The reason for which - the only thing which could be made more clear, is that you definitely need a 4x4 to reach this beautiful spot- the road to reach the final destination is not that long, but not suitable for a normal vehicle. We will definitely be back again to enjoy this hidden gem..."

"We had a lovely stay at Boshoek. A real old farm house with a lovely fireplace and a coal stove for warmth, gas for hot water, a cold fridge and cooking. Two big tables in the kitchen and dining room and a cosy sitting room provide ample opportunity for conversation. Best part was the morning coffee on the north facing stoep early in the morning with the most beautiful view over the mountains."

"What a gorgeous old sandstone house!Two days were definitely too short. We enjoyed lovely walks, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets and the quiet surroundings.Boshoek is the perfect place to relax!"
