The spectacular Wild Coast with it's rocky coastline is one of South Africas best kept secrets, and Umngazi is a great place from where to take in the indigenous forests, secluded coves and many river mouths.The bungalows are comfortable and have been tastefully decorated. There's a range of different units on offer which cater to those wanting privacy, those on honeymoon, or those with your little ones in tow. If you're a couple, you'll be want the Honeymoon, Emlonyeni or Ntabeni bungalow.
Ntabeni suites are nestled in the hillside near the spa, offering 180-degree views of the ocean. The suites offer sublime tranquility.
Emlonyeni bungalow is near the mouth of the Umngazi River with a panoramic sea-front view.
The double-story Honeymoon bungalow is private with spectacular views over the Umngazi River, beach and ocean. There's also the Standard Honeymoon bungalow with similar views.

"Umngazi is still beautiful but unfortunately we had bad experiences. The first started on check in. The previous occupants of our rooms decided to squat and instead of informing us of the situation and sorting it, we were left hanging. They gave us a room key and then suddenly the porters just left us stranded in the parking lot. My husband stayed with the car while I took some of our luggage and the two children to the room and then come face to face with the family still staying in our room. It seems that the staff were aware of the situation but hoped that we could flush out the squatters. I had to carry half the luggage, my baby and toddler back to reception while my husband had to guard the rest of the luggage at the car while I tried to find out what was going on. When I complained they had a laid back approach of isn't this too bad and made us wait some more without any information. Safaris booking confirmation stated that check in was at 13:00, which Umngazi had informed us was incorrect so we had already waited an hour prior to this fiasco.At checking out the receptionist informed us our drinks order of R489 was included which we thought was nice as a compensation for all the drama. The manager also checked our final bill before we paid. It seems they were just untrained or incompetent as we now have a "debt collector" on our trail for this outstanding amount (which I have just settled).The two stars of my rating are for the food and the location. It is so sad I remember Umngazi 25 years ago when we were regular visitors as we lived in Umtata. It is now overcrowded and very commercialised and you get less for R6400 than you used to get for under R500."
