Overview
Toro Yaka Bush Lodge is a one-of-a-kind lodge located in the unforgettably pristine bushveld of Balule. It is a 30 000-hectare nature conservancy in the Greater Kruger National Park area. Set apart from others by its seclusion, intimacy and privacy, Toro Yaka allows nature lovers to experience wildlife at close proximity during their vacation.

The lodge is designed for true bush elegance and it combines personal service and closeness to nature. The six air-conditioned, private en-suite double rooms ensure tranquility and comfort at all times.

The cuisine is a fusion of European and traditional African, prepared mostly outdoors over an open fire. Guests can view animals at the waterhole from the swimming pool deck. There is an abundance of bird life in and around the lodge. Field guides accompany bush activities and the Olifants River, which flows all year, is home to crocodiles and hippos. This is also an area of great scenic splendour with the northern Drakensberg Mountains visible from most points. The lodge is only an hours drive from two of the main gates to the Kruger National Park. Other attractions in the area include a wildlife rehabilitation centre, a cheetah project and the Hans Merensky Golf Club.

"We were treated with great personal attention. They really catered for our needs, especially with two vegetarians. Everything there was clean and beautiful. Very quiet and away from it all if you want it to be. Great hosts, great food, enjoyable game drives."

"We are Australian and stayed at Toro Yaka during the 2010 World Cup and had the most incredible time!Nicole and Steve are fantastic hosts. The accommodation was beautiful (including outdoor showers), the food was amazing and Steve is extremely knowledgeable about the bush and the wildlife. The game drives were the highlight as Steve and Vusi tracked down elephants, hippos, giraffes and lions for us to see.I would recommend Toro Yaka to anyone and would definitely return. It is the best value for money!"

"Nicole and Steve were wonderful hosts and did everything they could to make our stay magical. My husband and I had a very relaxing, comfortable stay at Toro Yaka.We would definitely recommend Nicole's massages and Steve's knowledge of the bush. They manage to create a very personal and restful atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and the room was extremely luxurious. We especially like the bedtime story left for us.We would highly recommend a stay at Toro Yaka and wish them all the best.We look forward to coming back one day."
"A bit mixed feelings "

"The lodge is beautiful and there is so much attention to little details. The cook is just adorable. Unfortunately when we were there the animals seemed to have moved away. That can happen, it is nature. Therefore we wanted to do a bush walk instead of sitting in a safari vehicle, so that we could learn more about nature, the eco-system etc. "

"We managed to secure a last minute booking at Toro Yaka and didn't really know what to expect. What we found is a lodge where you become friends with the hosts but you never feel that your privacy is being invaded. The lodge is very intimate and the attention to detail is great.Food and lodging is five star, and the game drives / walks are brilliant as they are flexible and are conducted by the owner, who is deeply passionate about conservation.I can't wait to go back soon. Thanks so much to all, with much love."
