There is nothing quite like escaping to the unspoilt splendour of the Highveld, far away from the city hustle and bustle. Riverman Cabin is situated in the Tonteldoos Valley, 25 km northeast of Dullstroom, which is only two-and-a-half hours' drive from Johannesburg.

Riverman Cabin consists of seven independent cabins three of which are stone and thatch cabins, and the other three are wooden cabins. All the cabins are fully furnished and equipped for a homely self-catering experience. All the cabins are open plan with cosy indoor fireplaces, as well as private, external braai areas with the wood stocked ready to set your fires ablaze.

Riverman offers fly-fishing in three small, but well-stocked dams, a Driving Range, picnics on demand, curio shop, beautiful scenery on the wattle walk and scrumptious meals at the Mine View restaurant. Bring along your golf clubs and test your skills at our Driving Range. Golf balls are charged at R40.00 per bucket (50 balls). We also have a small selection of clubs, for those who aren't regular players, but keen to give it a try. Afterwards, silence a rumbling tummy with a delicious meal at The Mine View Restaurant, where you can not only enjoy our infamous alcoholic slush puppies, but also the coldest Jagermeister shots in town! If the idea of Freshly Baked bread sounds enticing, you can order a bread, freshly baked on demand, in the restaurant. Satisfy your need for Retail Therapy at the quaint curio shop, located next to the restaurant. Here you will find various arts and crafts, souvenirs and weekend essentials such as coffee, tea, toothpaste, charcoal and firelighters.

"It is the second time we have stayed here. I think it is looking a little tired. No plug in bathroom basin. I think it needs new linen and the bathmat needs to be thrown out as well as the bathroom curtains. Otherwise the place is clean. Lovely fireplace for the cold nights."

"The Riverman Cabin is a great place to get away from the noise of the city and to recharge. Situated in a quiet country side with limited cellphone coverage, you are forced to take a deep breath and relax. The road from Dullstroom was not the best, but it was manageable. The host was very friendly and helpful, making for the perfect stay. Will recommend it to anyone looking for a short breakaway."

"Firstly I would like to thank Percy and Karen for their wonderful hospitality! They are two young people who take their jobs very seriously and honestly go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable! Percy is also the chef at the onsite restaurant and goodness gracious but the homemade bread and burgers are out of this world! The units themselves are beautiful, private and well decorated. The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything you could think of needing! We stayed in the Wiggly Stone Cabin, which is a little more secluded and private than the other units, which was wonderful."

"The accommodation allowed all to be in the same place but have some privacy when needed. Everything was clean and tidy and Karin went out of her way to accommodate a large party and all our requirements. Will make use of this venue again. Access roads from Dullstroom not very suitable for normal sedan."

"The accommodation was ok however I think the owner would have been more forthcoming with us regarding the fishing. From the messages we sent before we booked I had advised her we did not know about fly fishing and that we want to do fly fishing. I even told her we did not have rods and she said we could hire fly fishing rods from them. I asked if the dams were stocked and messaged that we were coming especially for fishing. We caught nothing except tiny fish with a net. When I asked Percy about it he said it's the wrong time to trout fish. I think because they could tell I didn't know anything about trout fishing they should have mentioned this before booking and paying. Percy said it is not impossible to catch a trout and he would come and help but he never did. As you can imagine the five teenagers with us were very disappointed. ESTABLISHMENT RESPONSE:Dear Jackie, Please be assured that my intention was not to lure you here just to get your money. The weather this weekend caught us off guard, as it is not usually that hot and if it is, it usually cools down later in the afternoon. Ourselves, as well as the neighbor stock our dams on a regular basis, but unfortunately the weather just did not play along, which is something I could not have predicted. Percy also apologizes for not being able to come and show you guys the ropes on Sunday morning. Unfortunately our cleaning staff never showed up on Sunday, thus we had to go and clean the restaurant ourselves in order to open for breakfast. He hoped that the tips he gave you about extending the leader line would help to get to the fish, which were escaping the heat at the bottom of the dam. Nevertheless, our staff not pitching was not your problem, and I would love to make up for your bad fishing experience. Should you ever be in the area during the winter time, you are more than welcome to come and fish free of charge. If you give us a call beforehand, I will also make sure that Percy is available to show you the ropes and I you can use our rods.I would also like to buy each of you a drink in our restaurant if you do decide to take me up on my offer, as I truly feel bad that you did not get to experience what you came here for."
