A recent guest describes Monate Game Lodge as a 'rose amongst the thorns', and we tend to agree. Your hosts, Joanie and Mike, offer a warm welcome and great service, all in a beautiful tranquil setting. This really is a gem, surrounded by manicured gardens on hectare private reserve less than 2-hours from Gauteng.The rooms in the main lodge are tastefully decorated with good quality linen, en-suite bathrooms and each having a private deck where you can relax and take in the bushveld surrounds. There's also a pool, if you need to cool off a bit!
If you can, grab one of the luxury tents, these are more private and worth the extra cost.
Dining at Monate Game Lodge is an experience in its own right with everything from venison to vegetarian on offer, and meals are included in your nightly rate so you won't go hungry.
The area is malaria-free and beautifully diverse with koppies, caves and bushveld, and is home to three of the Big-5 (Rhino, Buffalo, Leopard), not to mention Giraffe, Zebra, birds ... you'll certainly want to join in for at least one game drive to take it all in.
