"Hidden gem with stunning views"

"what a beautiful view overlooking the franschoek mountains and lots of animals, the lodge was inviting, friendly and the staff were very accommodating, the only think that freaked me out was the amount of game trophies on the walls , so if you are an animal lover u won't enjoy the amount of various stuffed animals as the over "kill" decor in every room of the lodge"

"The establishment views and room decor are amazing. Only reason I didn't give it 4 stars is that on 2 of the 3 nights we were there we didn't have water to bath."

"We made reservations 7 months ahead of our visit for 2 nights stay at Waterfall Lodge and Rouge Cottage. When we arrived there, we were told, without an apology, that there was a double booking for Rouge Cottage and we had to settle for another cottage. We were very disappointed. The restaurant, however, was superb and we enjoyed the food and service."

"Lucky for us the Waterfall cottage had a water pump problem and we got to stay in the most beautiful forest suites instead. We absolutely loved it seeing that its private, secluded and breathtakingly beautiful. Definitely the highlight of our December holiday! Thank you very much."

"Nice but overpriced"

"We went to the Waterfall Lodge at Chamonix. The cottage itself is smaller than the photos make it look and incredibly dark! The hot water facilities are not great - the boiler turns on and off at will so having a shower is not an enjoyable experience, plus it's the leakiest shower so have to surround yourself in shower curtains. The location itself is wonderful, and had the weather been kinder to us I'm sure would have been lovely to sit outside and enjoy the surroundings and view. It is also very private (although nearby land clearing suggests perhaps not for long). It's not walkable to the village (whereas the more basic (and cheaper) cottages are), which is a shame. All in all, the location is excellent if you want to sit and braai for all your visit, but less so if you want to walk into the village in the evenings. The cottage is small enough for 2 but a push to have 4 in there, especially with the aforementioned shower problems. Overpriced and would recommend the B+Bs in the village as a better alternative."
