Overview
Only an hours drive from Johannesburg and nestling on the banks of the Vaal River near Parys, Carryblaire River Retreat embodies peace, tranquility and a sense of oneness with nature. With its own natural island and being a bird sanctuary, the views offered at Carryblaire are breathtaking. The yellow-fish that leap through the water are considered to rival trout in their ability to entice fishermen in a challenge of wits, while the calls of the nesting Fish eagles remind us of their superiority in the air. Drink in the beauty and serenity around you, and let us and nature do the rest. Carryblaire River Retreat can accommodate up to 24 people in 10 double rooms. Accommodation options include dinner and breakfast or just breakfast. Meals consist of healthy and wholesome farm-style cooking, served in the dining room in the main lodge with stunning views overlooking the river. Our conference venue includes the use of all equipment, tea and coffee, snacks and lunch.

"Excellent spot with great views of the vaal. B & B was good added option.Unfortunately our unit was on the ground floor connected to main house, we could here every single step or movement from the first floor which meant waking up on Sunday morning while it was still dark outside.. "Beautiful, peaceful retreat"

"We loved our short stay at Carryblaire. It was just what we were looking for: a peaceful retreat away from the weekend bustle of nearby Parys. The room was neat and clean and comfortable and the grounds lovely and well-equipped for what our simple needs were. We opted-in for breakfast and it was simple but more than adequate, but made use of restaurants in Parys for dinner simple for the experience. We'll definitely be visiting again."

"Carryblaire is set in beautiful, tranquil surroundings. The price per night, however, seems a bit excessive for the quality of facilities provided."

"Truly tranquil setting on a picturesque section of the Vaal. We were fortunate to be the only guests this weekend which made the experience all that more special, particularly because I was looking for a break away with some solitude. We arrived at Carryblaire on what was one of the coldest nights. Despite our heater not working that night we were promptly attended to with a replacement. The electric blanket was a treat. We would like to return in the spring months to experience Carryblaire in full bloom"
